Terms of use

The free checker in plain words: what it covers, what it does not, and what you accept by using it. Updated .

The short version. This is a free tool that grades one page against rules we wrote and publish. It is an estimate, not advice and not a ranking guarantee. It cannot see your whole site. Check anything important yourself before you act on it.

What the checker does

You give it one web address. It fetches that one page the way a search engine would, reads the page's HTML, its response headers, its robots.txt, its sitemap and its structured data, and asks Google's PageSpeed Insights for the mobile performance of the same address. It then grades 60 tests, each with a published weight, and returns three scores out of 100 with the evidence for every grade.

A pass earns the whole weight of a test, a warning half, a failure none. A test that cannot run leaves the calculation entirely rather than counting as zero, so an outage on our side can never make your site look worse than it is.

What the checker does not do

It is one page, not a site. It does not crawl your other pages, log in, submit forms, complete a purchase, or see anything that is not linked from the address you gave it. It does not read your Search Console, your analytics or your ad accounts, because it has no access to them.

It does not tell you where you rank. Ranking depends on your competitors, your links and your history, none of which a single-page check can see. A high score means the things under your control on that page are in order. It is not a prediction and not a guarantee of any position, traffic level or revenue.

A clean result is not proof that a site is well built. We can only grade what the page returns to us at the moment we ask. A page that renders its content only after a visitor logs in, or that answers differently to different visitors, will be graded on what we were served.

Estimates, not advice

Every score is an estimate against a rule set we publish and can change. It is general information about a web page, not professional, legal, financial or marketing advice, and it is not a substitute for your own judgement or for a specialist who knows your business. Do your own checking before you act on anything here, especially before you spend money on it.

We give the tool away and we make no promise about the result. To the fullest extent the law allows, PageRank Ninjaz accepts no liability for any loss arising from a decision made on the basis of a score, a graded test or a suggested fix. If that is not acceptable for your purposes, do not use the free checker.

Fair use and limits

The free checker allows 3 checks per visitor per day, and the whole service has a daily ceiling. Both exist because every check costs us a page fetch and a call to a paid speed provider. When you hit either limit the tool says so plainly and tells you when it resets.

Do not script it, scrape it, or route traffic through it in bulk. Do not use it to check sites you have no relationship with in order to sell to their owners. We tick a terms box, hide a field that only a machine would fill, and time how long the form was open, all to keep automated traffic from spending the allowance that belongs to real visitors. Repeat abuse is blocked by address.

The email the report asks for

The three scores appear with no email at all. The full report, every graded test with its evidence and its fix, asks for an address. We use it to open the report, and we keep it so that a second visit does not have to ask again. That is the whole of it unless you tick the box.

The marketing box beside it is a separate question, and it starts ticked. Leave it ticked and you will get occasional tips, no more than twice a month, with a one-click unsubscribe link in every one. Untick it and you will not be emailed anything beyond the report you asked for. We record the exact wording you agreed to, when, and whether you ticked the box yourself or left ours ticked, so there is never an argument later about what happened.

You can leave the list at any time from the link in any email, or by asking. Leaving takes effect immediately and does not affect your ability to use the checker. We do not sell addresses, rent them, or pass them to anyone for their own marketing.

Your data, and other people’s sites

We store the address you checked, the report we produced and a one-way hash of your network address, which is used to count the day's checks and is never stored in a form that identifies you. We keep every check from the first one so a site can be compared with itself over time. We do not sell any of it.

You may check any publicly reachable page. Checking a page does not give you any right to it, and nothing we return is legal permission to copy anyone's content. If your own site is checked by somebody else, the report contains only what your server already gives to any visitor or search engine.

Changes to the rules

The rule set will change as answer engines change. When it does, scores produced under the old rules and the new ones are not directly comparable, in the same way a school changing its grading scheme makes last year's marks a different measurement. We will say when a rule changes and why.

Questions about a score, or think a test graded you wrongly? Every test names what it looked for and shows the evidence, so start there. The rules and their weights are listed on the checker page and in llms-full.txt.
